The short version

This is a small website for a remodeling and painting business. It has no login, no shopping cart, no newsletter and no chat window. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and runs no analytics. Nobody is counting your visit or following you from site to site.

There is one place where you can hand us information: the estimate configurator, the card that asks four questions about your job. What you type there goes to us, and nowhere else, so that we can call you back. Everything below explains exactly where it goes.

What this site collects about you

On its own, nothing that identifies you. No cookies. No local storage. No analytics, no advertising pixel, no call-tracking script, no social media embed, no chat widget. The typefaces, the photographs and the stylesheets are all served from this site itself, so loading a page does not hand your visit to a font network or a tracking company.

One small exception, and it is deliberately small: when a page opens, or you tap a phone number, start the estimate card or send it, the page tells our own system that it happened and which page you were on. That is the whole message: no name, no number, nothing that says who you are, no cookie. It exists so we know how many visits the site gets and which parts of it actually produce calls. It goes to Restea Systems, the agency described under “Where an estimate request goes”.

The estimate configurator

The card titled “Get a free estimate” appears on the home page, the contact page and each service page. When you send it, it carries:

your name (required);
your phone number (required);
the town or neighbourhood the job is in, if you fill it in;
the kind of work you picked;
where you are with it: ready to start, planning, or just pricing;
anything you typed into the optional message box.

Along with those answers it sends a few technical details: which page you sent it from, which card you used, the web address that referred you here, how long the card took to fill in, and any campaign tags in the link you arrived by. The timing figure exists only to tell a person apart from an automated script, which is what keeps your phone number out of a pile of spam. There is also a hidden field you will never see and should never fill in; it catches bots.

What we use it for: calling you back about the job you asked about. That is the whole purpose. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it or pass it to a lead broker, and we do not add you to a marketing list.

By sending the card you agree that we may call, email or text you back about that request. Consent is not a condition of purchase, and you can tell us to stop at any time (on the phone, or by replying STOP to a text) and we will.

Where an estimate request goes

This website is a set of static pages with no database behind it. When you send the card, your browser posts the details straight to an automation service run by Restea Systems, the web agency that built and maintains this site, at app.resteasystems.com. That service passes your request on to Asheville Renovations and Painting so we can make the call, and keeps a record of it for us.

A point worth being plain about: Restea Systems is based in Romania and runs that service on servers there, so your request passes through, and is held on, servers outside the United States. Privacy rules there are not the same as the rules here. Restea Systems handles it only in order to deliver it to us and to keep that record for us. It does not use it for anything of its own, and it does not sell or share it.

Nobody else receives it.

How long we keep what you send

We keep an estimate request for as long as the job it relates to is live, and for two years after we last hear from you about it, in case you come back to us about the same work. After that it is deleted. If you would rather we deleted yours sooner, call and ask and we will do it. There is no form to fill in.

You can also ask us what you have sent us, or ask us to correct it. Same route: call 828.899.1313 during working hours (Mon–Sat 9:00am–5:00pm · By appointment) and tell us which.

Google Maps

One page (the home page) shows a Google map of where we are and roughly where we work. Each map is an embedded frame loaded from Google.

When that frame loads, your browser connects to Google, which means Google receives your IP address, the usual technical details of the request and the fact that you were on that page, and it may set its own cookies in your browser under its own rules. That is Google's collection, not ours: we never see it, and we cannot switch it off for you. This site includes Google Maps features and content, and your use of them is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

It is the only third party this site loads.

Hosting

The site is a set of static files, served by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). Like any web host, the host processes the technical details of each request (IP address, browser, page requested) in order to send you the page. We do not receive its server logs and we do not use them.

What happens when you call us

Your number shows on our phone, exactly as it would with any call, and we use it to talk to you and to call you back about your job. We do not sell it, rent it or pass it to anyone else, and we do not put it on a marketing list.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If a child has sent us the estimate card, call us and we will delete it.

Do Not Track, and tracking across other sites

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. This site does not respond to it, and the reason is that there is nothing for it to switch off: we do not track you across websites or over time, and we build no profile of you.

The one third party that can see you here is Google, through the map frames described above. Google may be able to recognise you across other sites that use its services; that is Google's doing under Google's own policy, and it is outside our control. Other than that, no other party collects information about what you do on this site.

If this site changes

If the site starts collecting something it does not collect today (analytics, a cookie, a different form, a booking tool), this page is updated in the same change, and the date at the top changes with it. Material changes are announced here; the date at the top is how you tell. It is worth a look if you are about to send us something.
