What this page is

These terms cover your use of this website. They are not the terms of any building work.

If we end up working together, what governs the job is the written estimate we give you after we have been out to look at it, together with anything you sign alongside it. If something on a page of this site and something in your written estimate disagree, your estimate is what counts. A website cannot know your house; an estimate written after standing in the room can.

Using this site means you accept the terms on this page. If you do not, please just call us instead: 828.899.1313.

This site is a description, not an offer

The pages here describe the kind of work Asheville Renovations and Painting does: kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, whole-home renovations, additions & new construction, custom carpentry & built-ins and interior & exterior painting.

That description is not an offer, not a quotation, and not a contract. Nothing on this site is us agreeing to do a particular job, on a particular date, for a particular sum. Reading a page, filling in the estimate tool, or calling us does not oblige you to buy anything and does not oblige us to take the work on. We both stay free until there is something in writing that we have both agreed to.

Where a page lists what a service covers, that is what the work usually involves, not a fixed scope for your house. Your scope is whatever the written estimate says.

No prices, anywhere, and why

There are no prices on this website. No figures, no ranges, no “starting at”, no “typical kitchen”, no monthly payment examples, no discounts, no seasonal offers.

That is deliberate. An honest price for remodelling and painting work depends on the state of the existing house, what is behind the walls, what materials you choose and how much has to be moved. A number published on a web page for a house nobody has seen is a guess, and a guess that gets quoted back to us later is worse than no number at all.

So: any figure for your job comes from us in writing, after a site visit. If you ever see a price attached to our name that did not come from us in writing, it is not ours. Call and check.

The photographs

The photographs on this site show the kind of work described on the page they sit on.

Some of them are illustrative rather than a specific job of ours. We say so where they appear (on the work page and under the gallery on the home page), and we are replacing them with our own job photographs as they come in. We would rather tell you that than let you assume.

Whichever photograph it is, no photograph is a promise of what your finished room will look like. Materials, the condition of the existing house, the light in the room and your own choices decide that. If you want to see a real job like yours, ask us on the phone and we will show you one. Please do not treat a photograph as a specification; what you are getting is written in the estimate.

The estimate request, and what sending one does

Several pages carry a short set of questions: what you want done, where you are with it, what town the house is in, and how to reach you. It is there to start a real conversation about real work.

What sending it does: it tells us you would like us to call you back about the job you described, and it gives us permission to do that. We call back during working hours (Mon–Sat 9:00am–5:00pm · By appointment).

What sending it does not do:

It does not create a contract, and it is not you accepting an offer.
It does not book a date, reserve a crew or hold a place in a schedule. Nothing is scheduled until we have spoken and agreed it.
It does not oblige you to anything: not to a visit, not to an estimate, not to the work. You can change your mind at any point, and you do not need a reason.
It does not oblige us to take the job on. Sometimes it is the wrong job for us, or too far, and we would rather say so quickly than string you along.
It does not produce a price. Nothing on this site prices your job.

We may not reply to a submission that looks automated, abusive or unlawful, and please do not use the tool for bulk or automated sending. What we do with the name and the number you give us is set out in our privacy policy.

“Free estimate”: exactly what free means

When this site says free on-site estimate, here is the whole of it:

The visit is free. We come to the house and look at the actual job.
The written estimate is free.
There is no trip charge, no call-out fee, no design fee and no deposit to receive it.
You are under no obligation afterwards. You can take the estimate and do nothing with it, and you owe us nothing.
There is nothing to sign to get one, and nothing to pay back if you do not go ahead.

That is the offer with no conditions attached to it. If it ever changes (if a particular kind of visit ever carries a fee), we will say so on the page and on the phone before we come out, not afterwards.

We do have a minimum job size of $1,000, so that neither of us wastes a morning on a job we are not the right people for.

Google Maps

Some pages on this site (the home page) include Google Maps features and content. Use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

When a map loads, your browser connects to Google and Google receives information including your IP address. That happens between you and Google, not through us. Our privacy policy explains it as well.

Availability and accuracy

We keep these pages accurate, and where we do not know something we leave it out rather than fill it in with a guess.

Even so, this site is offered as information, not as a warranty. Services, service area, working hours and availability change, and a page can be out of date for a while before we catch it. The site may also be unavailable from time to time, and we do not promise it will always be reachable. The phone call is what confirms anything.

The text and the photographs belong to us

The text, the layout, the design and the photographs on this site are ours, or are used by us with permission. Please do not copy them onto another business's website or marketing material, and please do not present our work or our words as your own.

You are welcome to link to any page here, to share a page, or to print one for your own use while you think about a job. Please do not try to interfere with the site, scrape it in bulk, or use it for anything unlawful.

Links to other sites

Where this site links out to somewhere else (a map, a manufacturer, a review profile, a social page), that site is not ours and is not under our control. We do not take responsibility for what is on it or for what it does with your information. Its terms and its privacy policy apply there, not ours.

Limitation of liability, plainly

This part is not us trying to escape responsibility for our building work. Our responsibility for the work we do for you is set out in your written agreement with us, and nothing on this page reduces it. This section is about the website only.

The website is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it is error-free, that it will always be available, or that every detail is current at the moment you read it. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss you suffer from relying on the website alone instead of confirming with us, for example acting on a service description, a photograph or an availability statement that has since changed.

Nothing in these terms limits anything that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If you are about to make a decision that costs you money, check it with us on the phone or in writing first. That is a far better protection than any paragraph on this page.

Governing law and disputes

These terms, and your use of this website, are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute about this website will be brought in the state or federal courts sitting in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and we both agree to that.

Before anyone goes near a court, please call us. Almost everything that looks like a dispute is a misunderstanding that a phone conversation fixes the same day. If it is about a job rather than about this website, your written agreement with us governs how it is handled.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page, for example if the site gains a feature or if what it loads from a third party changes. When we do, the “last updated” date at the top changes with it. The version on this page at the time you use the site is the one that applies.
