- Cut in by hand at the ceiling line and the trim, so the edges are straight without tape marks
- Surfaces washed, scraped, filled, sanded and primed before any colour goes on
- The site left clean every evening, not just at the end
How it works
How a paint job actually goes.
- Step 01
We walk the house
Room by room, or wall by wall outside. What is peeling, what is bare, what has been painted over how many times: that is what decides the price, not the square footage.
- Step 02
We prepare
Wash, scrape, fill, sand, prime. This is most of the labour on a paint job and it is the entire difference between three years and ten.
- Step 03
We paint
Cut in by hand at the edges, then rolled or sprayed to suit the surface, and as many coats as the colour underneath actually needs.
- Step 04
We finish
Hardware back on, floors uncovered, site cleaned, and we walk it with you in daylight before we call it done.

Before you call
The questions we get asked.
Can you paint outside at this time of year?
It depends on the weather more than the calendar. Exterior work needs dry, mild days, and Western North Carolina is humid through the warm months, and paint that goes on over a damp or unwashed surface is what peels two years later. Interior work runs all year. Call and we will tell you honestly whether your exterior should wait.
Do you move furniture and protect the floors?
Yes. Furniture is moved and covered and floors are protected before anything is opened, and the site is cleaned at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.
How many coats do we get?
As many as the surface needs. A light colour going over a dark one, or bare filler and primer, takes more than a refresh in the same shade. We tell you which it is when we come out, and it is in the written estimate.
What does an estimate cost?
Nothing. We come out to the house, look at the actual job instead of guessing over the phone, and give you the price in writing.
How small a job will you take?
Our minimum is around $1,000. Below that we are not the right people to call.
How far do you travel?
About 50 miles around Asheville. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask. We would rather tell you than waste your morning.
Do you do commercial work as well as houses?
Yes. Both residential and commercial.
Is financing available?
Yes, financing is available. Ask us for the current terms when we come out to look at the job.
